VISITORS
Visitors are welcome to visit our school. We do ask
that all visitors please check in at the principals office upon arrival
on campus.

ATTENDANCE
If a student is absent, please phone the office by 9:00 a.m. on the day
of the absence. Every absence must be followed by a note from home
stating the nature of the absence. If communication with school is not
made, absences will be considered UNEXCUSED. |
ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE OF
STUDENTS
The cafeteria will be supervised for before-school tutoring starting at
7:30 in the morning; all early arrivers should go to the cafeteria.
Breakfast will be served at 7:50. CLASSROOM SUPERVISION WILL BEGIN AT
7:50. Buses are scheduled to arrive at 7:55 a.m. Please do not block
the unloading of buses. Parents can pull to the turn-around drive and
let children off there so they are not in the bus lane. Students should
be in their rooms by 8:10 and will be counted tardy after the official
start of the day at 8:15. The elementary school closes each day at 2:56
p.m. Students must leave the campus unless they are staying for an
organized, supervised, after-school activity. The children that do not
ride buses will be held in the classrooms while the bus students are
loaded by grade level. As soon as the buses pull out, those students
that walk home or get picked-up will be released from the rooms. This
will eliminate a lot of congestion in front of the school so teachers
can supervise a safe dismissal. PLEASE MAKE ARRANGEMENTS WITH YOUR
CHILD BEFORE SCHOOL IF THEY ARE TO HAVE A DIFFERENT PLAN THAN THEIR
ROUTINE AT THE END OF THE DAY. |
PARTY POLICY
Students are not to distribute invitations to birthday parties, etc.
through the school. Parents and students should use prior planning in
handling this outside the school day. |
TELEPHONE PROCEDURES
We request that teachers not be asked to come to the telephone during
class time. Messages will be taken, and teachers will return calls.
Students will be allowed the use of the telephone only in time of
emergency or as deemed necessary by school personnel. |

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES FOR INCLEMENT WEATHER
If weather conditions arise during the school day that may make the
roads hazardous, early dismissal will be made. KFVS-TV in Cape
Girardeau, Zimmer Radio Group in Poplar Bluff, and radio station KDEX
in Dexter are notified of early dismissals and are also notified when
school will be closed for the day. Please make contingency plans so
that your children will know what they are to do if early dismissal is
required. |
PARENT TEACHER
ORGANIZATION
The Puxico PTO plays a vital role in the life of the school. The PTO
supplements and supports the educational program, not only by providing
financial resources for the purchase of equipment that benefits all the
students in the district, but by the giving of their time and manpower
(and woman power!) to help implement school improvement. Among other
things, the PTO hosts an Open House in September, holds a Spring
Festival and Way Out games, and helps with Grandparents' Day and school
parties. All parents are urged to join and participate. The dues are
nominal and the benefits are great. |
