What an incredible chapter in Puxico basketball history. We celebrate three outstanding senior athletes — Jett Hancock, Landan Burchard, and William Baugus — as they officially signed to continue both their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level.
Puxico R-8 Schools could not be more proud of each of these young men and the leadership they have shown both on and off the court. Their dedication, toughness, character, and commitment to excellence helped shape one of the most successful eras of Puxico basketball and left a lasting impact on our school and community. Not only are they stellar athletes, they are great teammates and incredible people.
These hard earned opportunities also raise a pretty remarkable question… has there ever been another basketball team in Southeast Missouri with three seniors from the same team signing to play at the collegiate level in the same year? Could this even be one of the first times in the state?
While I’m sure we aren’t the first or the only ones, we might be the proudest! Regardless, it speaks volumes about the athletes, their families, teammates, coaches, and the culture built around Puxico basketball.
While we will certainly miss their leadership in Arnold Ryan Gymnasium, we are excited to watch what comes next for each of them as they begin the next chapter of their journey.
Continue to take pride in all you do. Work hard. Stay humble. Represent your families, your schools, and your communities with pride.
