Darla Crain retirement poster

Puxico School Family,

It is with a mixture of emotions, gratitude, and pride, that we share the retirement of one of Puxico’s very best.

After 38 years of dedicated service to Puxico R-8 School, Darla Crain has decided it is time to “kick the pig” and begin a well-earned retirement.

As a proud Puxico alumnus, Darla devoted her career to serving the school she has always called home. Throughout the years, she faithfully served our district as both an elementary secretary and a central office secretary. While those titles describe her positions, they hardly capture the impact she has made on our school community.

Darla has been an exceptional talent in every role she has held. She has been a mentor to countless staff members, a trainer for new employees, a trusted source of knowledge and guidance, and a welcoming voice for students, parents, staff, and community members alike. For many people, Darla has been the face of Puxico School—the first smile they saw when they walked through our doors and the reassuring voice they heard when they called.

Her commitment, professionalism, kindness, and love for Puxico have left a lasting mark on generations of students, families, and employees. The relationships she has built and the example she has set will continue to influence our district for years to come.

While this milestone is certainly bittersweet, we are incredibly thankful for Darla’s 38 years of service and the countless ways she has helped make Puxico a special place. We celebrate her accomplishments, her legacy, and this exciting new chapter ahead.

Darla, we pray that your retirement is filled with joy, laughter, travel, family, grandbabies, friends, and all the things you’ve put off while taking care of the rest of us. We also have a feeling that David’s to-do list is about to get a whole lot longer!

Thank you for your dedication, your friendship, and your unwavering commitment to Puxico R-8 School.

Stay tuned…we will announce her retirement party at a later date!

We love you, Dar!

With tremendous appreciation,

Cindy Crabb,
the Puxico R-8 School Board &
the Puxico R-8 Staff
