We are giving away twenty (20) $500 scholarships again this year to graduating high school seniors in our service area planning to attend college or trade school in the Fall semester.

Puxico Nursing & Rehab Center hosted a local art contest recently. 1st place went to Nathan Dumas (center), 2nd place went to Dayton Shackleford (right) and 3rd place went to Mackenzie Callaway (left), also pictured is Shannon Seward (Social Services) on the far left and Peggy Parsley (Puxico Art Teacher) on the far right. Our members attended the 2024 District Leadership Conference held in Poplar Bluff yesterday. Several of those members came home with a medal. Congratulations to everyone!

Mrs. Smothers’ 6th grade Social Studies started out this new year with their economics unit by stepping back in time. They were each given an occupation/trade and must barter their goods/trade skills in order to survive for a year. There were a lot of negotiations going on in class.
Puxico R-8 School and the Puxico Board of Education are excited to announce the Puxico Hall of Fame Inductees.
We welcome the 1989-1990 Puxico Indians Varsity Basketball Team, the Valedictorians and Salutatorians from 2010-2014, and the 2023 Valedictorian and Salutatorian. CONGRATULATIONS!
The Hall of Fame Banquet will begin at 5:00 on Friday, February 16, 2024 with the Induction Ceremony taking place between the Girls and Boys Basketball game.

Winners of the Puxico Nursing & Rehab Center Art contest for the Puxico Junior High and High School students are..... 1st place (drawing #26) by 11th grader Nathan Dumas, 2nd place (drawing #70) by Dayton Shackleford in 7th grade, and 3rd place (drawing #42) goes to 10th grader Makenzie Callaway! Today, we had a staff member and student recognized by the District 15 VFW hosted by at the Sikeston VFW post.
Mrs. Tonna O’Dell was recognized as District 15 Teacher of the Year. She was presented with a plaque by the VFW.
Alyssa Owens was recognized as first place recipient of District 15 for writing an essay for the Patriots Pen contest. Her essay was chosen from over 300+ essays submitted by students across SE Missouri. As a first place recipient she was given the honor of reading her essay at the meeting. She also received a plaque.
Both Mrs. O’Dell and Alyssa will move on to the state level in February for a chance to earn state honors.

We were able to get a great team win over a very good Van Buren team. Proud of the guys for bouncing back and picking up a good win! I am glad we sent our Seniors off on a high note!
Thank you to all who supported us this week. We had community members provide meals, community watch parties at local businesses, and the biggest and loudest crowd all week! It was powerful to be a part of!

The 6th grade, 7th grade, and High School band put on a great performance tonight at the winter concert!
We appreciate all the hard work Mr. Murphy and the bands put in to bring us these performances.
Ms. Skillman’s 7th grade enrichment class used angles and friction to slow a marble down in marble tube race creation. The design slowest was the goal to win the competition.
There was a lot of excitement among the students as the one design everyone thought would win, actually slowed to a stop on two different runs. All of the creations were very different with multiple strategies and designs. Seeing all of the collaboration made Ms. Skillman’s teacher heart very happy!
The winning time was 6.18 seconds! The team with the winning design was Jordan, Colten, and Tyler.
Congratulations to the December Citizens of the Month!
Our guys were able to gut it out and win the Bernie Invitational Tournament tonight over a really good Risco team! We found a way to win when shots weren't falling and our defense stepped up when we needed it!
I can't say enough about this group of guys and cheerleaders. All day long they were excited for the game. The community and school were buzzing about the game tonight. I am beyond blessed to work in a school that cares so much and kids and families that care so much! I hope you all know how much we care about the kids!
