Puxico Jr. High Closed a Chapter Friday Night in Ellsinore
The Jr. High Lady Indians wrapped up their season Friday night as they took on the East Carter Redbirds on the road. It was a special evening as our 8th graders — Braylen Fox, Reese Mattingly, and Brylee Campbell — suited up for their final Jr. High games. Each of these young ladies led in her own way — some on the scoreboard, and some through pure hustle, grit, and great sportmanship. Thank you, Braylen, Reese, and Brylee, for representing Puxico Jr. High with pride and heart. We are proud of each of you, and can’t wait to cheer you on next year as Puxico High School Lady Indians!
To our other Lady Indians, we are proud of your hard work this season and thank you for giving it your all each game, making it fun for all of your fans. Thank you!
The night was full of energy, with the boys and girls bringing the energy and the Puxico Cheerleaders keeping the crowd fired up. These teams are fun to watch, if you haven’t attended a game yet, there are just a few more chances to catch the boys and see the cheerleaders in action. These boys get better and better each game, and work hard on the floor.
📅 Looking Ahead:
• Monday: Boys on the road at Richland vs. the Rebels
• Thursday: Boys host the Advance Hornets at home
Come out and support our teams — let’s pack the stands and show that Indian Pride! 🧡🖤

Mrs. Smothers Level Up class is currently reading Little House in the Big Woods. Today, we stepped back to the 1800’s and made our own butter. Then, enjoyed the fruits of our hard work!

These awesome kids have met their reading goals! We are so proud of you!

Mrs. Smothers 8th grade Current Events class finished their first debate, where they were given a topic, they researched it and debated each other. The topics included: Ketchup is a fruit smoothie; Cereal is a soup; The book is better than the movie; Hotdogs are sandwiches; e-books are better than real books. Reese was our debate monitor.

On Tuesday, October 21st the JH Boys and Girls Basketball teams, JH Cheer, and High School Volleyball, participated in our 2025 Pink Out Night. The groups represented Puxico High School well, and made the night one to remember. All of the proceeds from the 2025 Pink Out Night went to the Barbie Davis Scholarship Fund. At the end of the night, all groups raised $1,226!
On a side note, we want to thank the volleyball program for being flexible and having a scrimmage due to a late cancelation. Thank you to everyone who made this a special night!

⚾️Puxico High School Baseball ⚾️
What a beautiful evening at the Chris Sifford Sports Complex as our Puxico Indians pulled off a hard-fought 4-3 victory over the Doniphan Dons!
The team played with heart and hustle, and it showed on the field.
Great job, boys!

On Wednesday, October 1st, Mr. Placher's government students had the pleasure of learning about government in a very real sense with Josh Speakman, Stoddard County Collector. Mr. Speakman talked about three important dates - ask your students, taxes, voting, haircuts and more. We at PHS want to say thank you for visiting with our students.

🌟 See You at the Pole with Puxico FCS 🌟
This morning, 166 students and community members gathered together—despite the rainy weather—to join in prayer and hear a powerful message from Mitch Grainger. A special thank you to the Puxico Ministerial Alliance for supporting Puxico FCS and providing tasty doughnuts for them today.
He encouraged our students to live as ambassadors of Christ in every part of life—whether with friends, on social media, in athletics, in the hallways, or wherever they go. His reminder was simple yet strong: let your faith be reflected in all you do.
What an incredible morning of faith and fellowship at Puxico!

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS BRING NEW LIFE TO PUXICO JR. HIGH!
A huge thank you to Mingo Job Corps for tackling the project of painting the Puxico Jr. High hallway over the summer!
This was their first on-site project at our school, and we are so grateful for both the students and staff who dedicated their time and skills. Not only did they bring our hallways to life with our vibrant school colors, but the project also provided incredible learning opportunities. The Mingo Job Corps Students, under the direction of Mr. Victor Metzger, gained experience in:
✅ Project preparation & planning
✅ Calculating product needs
✅ Surface priming, trimming, and cutting
✅ Design work and attention to detail
✅Using Stilts
✅ Installing trim & cutting moulding around doorways
✅Problem Solving
✅ Safely working with scaffolding
✅ Completing a professional punch list
The results are outstanding—our hallways look brighter, more welcoming, and full of school pride. 🖤 🧡 Staff and students alike have commented on how much they enjoy the updated look and the energy it brings to the building.
We are thankful for this partnership and proud to see these students learning skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom. In the end, it was an honor to enjoy a celebratory dinner together as the students discussed their upcoming goals and plans. Thank you again, Mingo Job Corps students & staff, for making a lasting impact at Puxico Jr. High!

✨Puxico Spirit of the School Mural ✨
Last night’s mural unveiling was a truly special celebration, and it would not have been possible without the help and support of so many.
We want to thank the Puxico Board of Education for allowing this project to come to life, and the Puxico Art Department, especially Mrs. Ashley Williams and Christy Lewis, for co-hosting the reception. A special thanks also goes to Ms. Rita, Ms. Teresa, and Mrs. Hancock for their time and effort in setting up, preparing, and serving.
We are grateful to Jim Clark, Shawn, & Scott with the maintenance crew for their continued support throughout the project and for their help during the event, and to Don McRoy for his assistance and photography to capture it all.
Most of all, we extend our deepest appreciation to Mrs. Peggy Parsley, Kathy Faries, and their families. Their dedication, talent, and nearly 170 hours of hard work created not only a beautiful mural but also a lasting gift to our school and community.
Finally, thank you to everyone who came out to attend and share in this special moment. Your presence made the evening even more meaningful. 🧡🖤

When our FFA program takes on the SEMO District Fair, they do it right! 80+ students had the opportunity to participate at the fair and show what they have learned through agriculture based education.
Mr. Payne has done a great job building and maintaining the program while focusing on the future needs of the agricultural community.
