Friday, Mrs. Woolard took several high school students to the Mingo Job Corps Open House where they celebrated their 60th anniversary. Students were able to see the trades that are offered such as heavy equipment, welding, forestry fire fighting, bricklaying, and more.
Students also had the opportunity to talk to the instructors and students about their trade and even participated in demonstrations that were setup.
The students enjoyed their time learning about all the trades offered nearby no cost to them.

Back to School Information:
We are so excited to welcome our students to class tomorrow, Thursday, August 22. Here are a few back to school reminders to help us kick off the school year:
The doors will open at 7:30 a.m. Elementary students will report to their classrooms, JH students will start their day in the cafeteria, and HS students will report to the HS building. Breakfast will be available and is free to all students that want to eat.
TRAVEL ALERT:
Please use caution on your morning and afternoon drives and be extra alert for buses on routes. We ask all caregivers to discuss the importance of safe driving near buses and student walkers with younger drivers.
MORNING DROP OFF:
For added safety and due to heavy traffic, all elementary car riders are to be dropped off in the car line in the FEMA parking lot. Please do not travel near the elementary office, that area is reserved for bus traffic only. Parents should remain in the car while in the drop off line. Please do not stop or block the drop off line, and follow directions once you enter the lot. We will have helpers to escort smaller children to their classrooms. We ask that you watch for adults to cue you when it’s safe to let your elementary student out of the car. It is extremely helpful to have backpacks and lunchboxes near your child before arriving to the drop off location.
It is recommended that JH and HS students are also dropped off in the FEMA lot.
BUS RIDERS:
We recommend for the first day - especially for younger elementary children - that students should leave school the same way the arrive. If you are driving a kindergartner to school for the first day, please consider picking them up after school as well. It makes for a smoother afternoon bus ride for our bus riders and bus drivers if the driver is able to pick up the child at their home in the morning. If any transportation changes need to be made, please call the office by 2:30 PM. Any changes after 2:30 PM, will not be made.
Elementary 222-3542
Junior High 222-3058
High School 222-3175
Senior Class of 2025 will meet at 7:40 on the FEMA steps for their Last, First Day Picture at 7:45. Please park in your assigned spot prior to picture time.
This year our District will implement a new student information system. Due to Tyler Technologies discontinuing their SISK12 platform, we will use Infinte Campus. Your parent portal login for SISK12 will not work at this time but directions to use the new system will be coming soon.
We look forward to seeing all of the students and their smiling faces tomorrow! We greatly appreciate your help in creating a safe environment and efficient routine for the arrival and departure of our students.

You can tell that the V. F. W. Puxico Homecoming is almost here because it is time to gear up for Puxico Band Camp!
8-12th grade band students can find the schedule for the first week of band camp below. The Puxico Marching Band will have 2 weeks of band camp that stretches from July 22-August 2.
The bands’ very first performance will be prior to the beginning of school, so it is essential that all 8th grade and HS band students attend band camp. The Puxico Band will perform in the Puxico Homecoming Parade on Saturday, August 17.
The Puxico R-8 School District will host a Director’s Reception on Wednesday, July 24. We invite all of our 6-12 grade band students, and their parents, to drop in for a refreshment and to meet the directors.
During band camp, the Puxico Band Boosters will provide lunch for the students. Please message the Puxico Band Booster Facebook group to volunteer, to participate this year with the band boosters, or to make a donation.

Mrs. Marla Clark and Mrs. Tammy Thompson have been working with young learners in public education, each serving for over 30 years. Thank you so much for looking out for our elementary students and our staff. Your dedication to teaching and learning was greatly appreciated.
